Map QRS Seat Box Attachments Explained

The brand new for 2016 QRS Seat Box Attachments from Map Fishing are available to pre-order NOW at chapmans angling. Below is a simple guide explaining what QRS means and why everyone is so excited about them.

Scroll down for release dates

QRS simply stands for ‘Quick Release System’, which is MAP's innovative new connection method for seatbox accessories, meaning set-up and pack-down is quicker and easier than ever before! All the QRS accessories, everything from feeder arms to accessory bars, feature our unique push button mechanism, which allows easy fitting and removal from the QRS bracket which can remain attached permanently to your box.

Attaching any of the accessories couldn’t be easier, simply push into the bracket and wait for the click to tell you that your accessory is secured, you can set it at 90° increments to suit your fishing situation.  At the end of your match, to remove them is just as quick. By pressing in the two push buttons on the accessory (having two means it is impossible to accidentally knock an accessory off) this releases the accessory to allow simple removal. The QRS block can be left attached to your box in the perfect position for next time.  Combined with the 180° Multi Lock you can position the locking knob wherever you want for ease of transport.

So the next question is will it fit my box? If you have made the excellent decision to get one of the brand new MAP seat boxes then of course it will, but they will also fit any other 25mm, 30mm or 36mm round legs on the market. All the inserts will be supplied with the bracket so there is no need to buy any extras.

The range itself consists of three lengths of Outrigger Arms which are ideal for pole socks, butt rests and the like but double up for holding extra sections when not in use thanks to the protective foam cover. They also feature our unique QRS Accessory Insert that allows you to quickly attach or remove any threaded items with a simple twist of the collar. These inserts can also be purchased separately should you wish to change between multiple attachments on a single Outrigger arm.

There are also two sizes of Accessory Arms which are a straight arm featuring the same Accessory insert as the Outriggers. Perfect as a longer keepnet arm, but can also be used with a host of other items.

The QRS Keepnet Attachment is a firm favourite of all our consultants, gone are the days of having to unscrew your nets when you weigh in! A short metal attachment is designed to stay permanently attached to your nets and this of course utilises the same push button release system as the rest of the range. You choose one of two clamps to use this with, the standard ‘Keepnet Clamp’ will work on any 25mm, 30mm or 36mm leg or the ‘Accessory Bar Clamp’ is also available if your attaching your nets to the awesome ‘QRS Accessory Bar’

To complete the range we have gone back to the drawing board to create the ultimate feeder arm for commercial venues. This short 90 degree arm offers adjustment both vertically and horizontally and features the QRS Accessory Insert so you can quickly change rod rests heads.

Carpworld Review: Stillwater BPX Compact Big Pit Reel

Another smashing review from one of the best Fishing magazines in Britain. Read the review below from The February 2016 issue in Carpworld magazine.

February 2016 Review:

A good reel is an essential part of your gear, as it is the drive train that does all the work. When I think back to some of the reels I used to press into service, I cringe at just how inadequate they were. As soon as I had more money at my disposal, I started to spend more cash on this particular item of gear; in fact, I became a bit of a reel snob.

This all changed recently, when I got a set of Stillwater BPX Big Pit Compact Reels for long-term test, and I was impressed from the start. The reel looked good in its matt black and red livery, and had a good solid feel to it, which inspired confidence. However, like anything, it’s only when you use something that you can truly comment. I filled the reel with heavy-duty 0.40mm line, simply because the water I’m currently fishing is a harsh environment. The machined aluminium spool actually took more than it claimed, and a rough guesstimate would be that it
swallowed about 230m, a slight increase on the stated 165yds.

This went on smoothly, and in spite of its wiry nature, it sat beautifully on the spool. In use, the reel cast superbly and the line lay has remained impeccable so far, which is 3 months of heavy use. The clutch is also very smooth and has the capability to be slackened off to give line on the take, and can be locked-up solid in two full turns. During some prolonged and powerful battles, the clutch has been very impressive and displays no snatching or sticking; it’s a great performer and inspires confidence. This reel has the power and guts to be an excellent spod or marker reel, but don’t be fooled into thinking that it doesn’t also make a great all-round carp-fishing reel of a size that is perfect for most fishing situations.

The BPX Compact is well worth a look and offers outstanding value for money, and when you consider you can pick up three for £120, you can’t really afford to ignore them, can you?

Anglers Mail Hot Buy: Stillwater BPX Big Pit Freespool Reel

This reel is sure to be a hit with our customers! The 5th of January 2016 issue of Anglers Mail features a review of the Chapmans exclusive Stillwater BPX Big Pit Freespool Reel making it an Anglers Mail Hot Buy product!

Check out the review below and why not pop into one of our stores this week to give it a try first hand for yourself. We guarantee this will be a Chapmans No1 selling specialist fishing reel of 2016.

Anglers Mail Review:

These good-looking, smooth-running big pit reels, with a free-spool facility, are likely to attract plenty of interest with a price tag of under £45!

I like the relatively compact body, but large spool capacity 275 yards of 10 lb line or 155 yards of 15 lb.

I'm also impressed with the large, rubberised grip, comfortable handle and the reassuringly solid bail and smooth feel of the 5+1 bearing system.

A useful reel for pikers at this time of year, on braid or mono, as well as carpers, and big river rods on stepped up gear for species such as barbel.

I have to say that they look and feel like a reel with a more expensive price tag.
